Tis the season to give!

Did you know that 22% of NY children, and about 1.4 million people living in NYC are food insecure, meaning they don't have consistent access to adequate food?

This holiday season we hosted a food drive in collaboration with City Harvest to collect non-perishable food to feed some of NYC’s hungry during the winter.  Our food drive ran from November 25 to December 13, 2013 and pitted three equal-sized UGE teams against each other to see who could donate the most items: Engineering, Business Development, and Middle Kingdom (an amalgamation of Logistics, Legal, HR, Sustainability, Marketing and Finance).

Over the course of the three weeks we collectively managed to collect 128 items equaling about 100 lbs of food for NYC's hungry and food insecure.

The team that collected the most items was Middle Kingdom, with 57 items of food, followed by Business Development with 43 regular sized items and one massive can of tomatoes.  Engineering rounded out the effort with a very respectable 27 items.

The prize for Middle Kingdom was some delicious cupcakes from Billy's Bakery! Yum!
