Future Energy Conference NYC on April 11, 2012

Last Wednesday, David and I attended the Future Energy Conference at the NYU Stern School of Business. The event was attended by energy professionals, clean tech startups, venture capital firms, and students from NYU Stern. Eight startups present three minute pitches in front of the fifty+ person audience and a panel of three representatives from New York City cleantech venture capital groups and one representative from Shell Energy. We saw many innovative technologies and varied pitches, which were critiqued by the panel. The best pitches and most intriguing technologies came from NOHMS, a nano-materials battery materials manufacturer, and Altaeros Energies, a wind turbine company which uses helium blimps to generate power from the wind at very high altitudes. It was beneficial to hear the critiques of each company's pitch, and after the event we received many complements about UGE's work by other cleantech firms and venture capitalists. It was nice to hear this feedback and attend this worthwhile event.
