               Potential customers in urban Chinese markets have given resistance to purchasing solar panels due to the perceived negative effect of excessive PM 2.5 and PM 10.0 dust particles in the air and accumulation of these particles on the solar panel. It is the purpose of this paper to discuss the negative effects of small dust particles, such as PM 2.5, on solar panels.

    Exciting news: UGE is a finalist in RISE: NYC, a competition created by the  NYC Economic Development Corporation in the wake of Hurricane Sandy to identify and deploy creative new technologies and solutions for New York City. UGE and other finalists are eligible for up to $30 Million in funds to help NYC businesses become more resilient to the impacts of future storms, sea level rise and other effects of climate change.

    For enterprises like banks, restaurants, supermarkets, resorts, and athletic arenas that rely on a continuous and reliable stream of energy, blackouts prove extremely problematic. When the source of electricity is not sound due to lack of sufficient infrastructure, natural disaster, or high demand, companies face substantial loss in revenue. Not only is inadequate lighting dangerous, it also prevents any business transactions from occurring.

At a time when 1.2 billion people worldwide lack access to electricity, when 2.8 billion people do not have clean and safe cooking facilities, and when a shift to sustainable energy use is imperative to protect the Earth’s climate, no less than a worldwide effort is required to achieve sustainable energy for all.
